The Sky Quality Map Europe helps stargazers find regions with darker skies when planning an astronomy trip. It visualises artificial skyglow using satellite data processed by Fabio Falchi and Riccardo Furgoni, so potential observing destinations can be compared across national borders.
Alongside light pollution, the detailed travel map shows towns, roads, waterways and places of interest. Dark Sky Parks and Reserves, major recurring star parties and astronomy camps are also marked. The map is labelled in English, but its colours and symbols make it easy to use without detailed English knowledge.

Choosing this map
Use the map to shortlist darker regions and prepare routes. It does not provide live weather or sky conditions; local lighting, cloud, haze, moonlight and an unobstructed horizon still need to be checked.
