Where can you still find a dark night sky? The Oculum Sky Quality Map Germany helps identify observing locations and understand artificial skyglow. Its colour-coded presentation is based on satellite data processed by Fabio Falchi and Riccardo Furgoni, allowing regions to be compared when planning observing trips.
The detailed topographic base shows smaller towns, waterways, railway lines, motorways and roads. Dark Sky Parks and Reserves, along with astronomy star-party locations, are also marked. This makes the map useful both for choosing a destination and for orientation on site.
