What works especially well?

Bright subjects such as the Moon, landscapes and daylight observation are the easiest targets. Deep-sky imaging through an eyepiece remains much more demanding with a smartphone.

Practical note

First focus the optical instrument carefully, then align the smartphone lens precisely over the eyepiece exit pupil.
