The Acuter Maksy 60 is a compact Maksutov-Cassegrain set for first steps in astronomy, classroom use and discovery at home. Its 60 mm optics have a 750 mm focal length at f/12.5. The Moon and bright planets are suitable targets; the small aperture naturally limits views of faint deep-sky objects.
A removable cover reveals the optical layout and makes the way a Maksutov telescope works easier to demonstrate. The set includes an eyepiece providing 37.5x magnification and a projection eyepiece. The Amici prism presents an upright image and also supports terrestrial viewing in daylight. Focusing is performed by moving the primary mirror.
The compact tabletop tripod and gift box with carrying handle make it easier to transport and set up on a firm surface. A smartphone adapter is included, but the smartphone itself is not. This straightforward telescope is particularly suited to supervised first observations and hands-on learning.
