Mounted Solar Filters
Find telescope solar filters supplied with AstroSolar film already mounted in a protective cell. The filter sits in front of the telescope aperture and can be centred on different tube or dew-shield diameters.

Mounted solar filters save you from building a holder for loose solar film and provide a ready-made solution for white-light solar observing. Baader ASTF filters use AstroSolar Safety Film in a temperature-compensating cell and are designed for high-quality telescopes and long-focus telephoto lenses. The ClearWhite OD 5.1 version gives a neutral white solar image and is intended for visual observing and photography.
Choose the filter size by its clear aperture, then check the actual inner or outer diameter of your telescope tube or dew shield. The centring bolts allow different mounting positions, while the safety straps help prevent the cell from slipping off. Dimensions and clamping ranges vary with each ASTF size, so compare them with your telescope before ordering.
Solar safety: use the filter only when it is fully assembled, undamaged and securely fitted in front of the objective. Inspect the film, cell and attachment before every session. Never look at the Sun through a telescope, binoculars or finder without a suitable solar filter.
