The Acuter Newtony-50 is a small learning and observing set for children, beginners and classroom use. Its 50 mm Newtonian reflector has a 200 mm focal length at f/4 and is mounted on a tabletop tripod. Its compact design suits first looks at the Moon and other bright targets, aiming exercises and learning how a reflecting telescope works. The small aperture provides limited performance on faint deep-sky objects.
A removable cover reveals the internal layout and supports hands-on teaching. The set includes an eyepiece for 20x magnification, a projection eyepiece and a smartphone adapter. These let users try simple observations and prepare basic afocal phone photography; the smartphone itself is not included. A helical focuser is used to bring the image into focus.
The supplied tabletop tripod provides a simple compact setup on a firm surface. The lightweight tube may also be considered for guiding when a suitable mounting arrangement is available. The Newtony-50 comes in a gift box with a carrying handle. Its small size makes it easy to take along for supervised first observations.
