DWARFLAB Draco SHO – smart telescope for advanced deep-sky imaging
The DWARFLAB Draco combines a 90 mm aperture catadioptric optical system and 340 mm focal length with automatic alignment, tracking and onboard image processing. Its fast f/3.8 focal ratio is designed for faint deep-sky targets such as nebulae and galaxies. It suits beginners and experienced astrophotographers who want an integrated imaging system without a separate camera, mount or guiding controller.
Dual cameras and automatic tracking
The telephoto camera uses an OV50Q40 50-megapixel sensor. A second wide-angle camera (OV50E40) assists with sky orientation and framing and can capture larger star fields or the Milky Way at the same time. An integrated monochrome guidescope supports tracking; the supplier specifies single exposures of up to 300 seconds. Internal storage is 128 GB. Sensor cooling reduces thermal noise and uses the generated heat to temper the optics and help prevent dew.
SHO edition for Hubble-palette imaging
The SHO edition includes astronomy and dark-frame filters plus two integrated dual-band filters: Hα+O III and S II+O III, each with a 13 ± 3 nm half-width. Capturing sulfur, hydrogen and oxygen emission lines makes it possible to create nebula images in the classic Hubble palette. The app supports automatic filter changes, channel separation and image composition. Unlike the standard version, the SHO edition does not have an integrated ND solar filter; an external OD 5 ND filter for solar imaging is included and must be correctly fitted for that use.
Control, connectivity and portability
Automatic alignment and GoTo control are handled by the DWARFLAB app for iOS and Android. Draco supports Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and NFC, conventional Alt-Az operation and an EQ mode. Images transfer wirelessly or through USB-C. The built-in 77 Wh battery (10,000 mAh at 7.7 V) provides approximately five hours of operation according to the supplier. The IP56 housing is protected against dust and powerful water jets. The included aluminium tripod has a 3/8-inch mounting thread.
