Product overview

The Omegon UWA 6 mm is an attractively priced wide-angle eyepiece for higher magnifications. Its 66° apparent field feels noticeably more spacious than a basic standard eyepiece and is particularly helpful with manually tracked telescopes.

Suitable applications

• Beginners adding a short focal-length eyepiece to an existing set
• Lunar and planetary observers
• Users of Dobsonian and other manually tracked telescopes
• Observers of compact deep-sky objects when the telescope focal length is suitable

Included equipment

• 6 mm focal length
• 1.25-inch barrel
• 66° apparent field of view
• Thread for 1.25-inch filters
• Fold-down rubber eyecup

What magnification will it provide?

Magnification is calculated by dividing the telescope focal length by the eyepiece focal length. With a 900 mm telescope, a 6 mm eyepiece gives 150x magnification. Whether this is useful depends on aperture, optical quality and atmospheric seeing.

Practical note

Check which focal lengths you already own before buying. We are happy to help you choose a sensible eyepiece progression for your telescope.
