Sky-Watcher Evostar 120 OTA 120/1000 Achromatic Refractor

The Sky-Watcher Evostar 120 OTA is a classic 120 mm achromatic refractor with a long focal length. This optical tube assembly is supplied without a mount, making it suitable for observers who already own a sufficiently sturdy mount or want to build a custom setup. Its 120 mm aperture and 1000 mm focal length are particularly well suited to the Moon, planets and compact deep-sky objects.

The two-element, air-spaced achromatic optics are fully multi-coated. The long focal length supports steady, high-contrast views at higher magnifications on the Moon and planets. As is typical of this achromat design, coloured fringes may be visible around very bright objects. Its field of view is narrower than that of short-focal-length refractors, so it is less suited to very large nebulae and star fields. A stable mount is important: the tube is about 1 m long and weighs approximately 4.7 kg without packaging.

Features and observing

The 2-inch focuser accepts 2-inch accessories and includes an adapter for 1.25-inch eyepieces. The package includes a 2-inch diagonal, a 9×50 finder, 10 mm and 25 mm eyepieces, and a DSLR camera connection. You can begin visual observing after assembly. Photography may require additional camera adapters and a mount suitable for the camera and intended target.

Please note: This is the OTA version. A telescope mount and tripod are not included. Solar observing is safe only with a suitable solar filter securely fitted over the front aperture; never look at the Sun without one.
