Sky-Watcher Evostar 150 OTA 150/1200 Achromatic Refractor

The Sky-Watcher Evostar 150 OTA is a large achromatic refractor with a 150 mm aperture and 1200 mm focal length. Its classic two-element, air-spaced objective is multi-coated and designed for high-resolution, high-contrast views. The long f/8 focal length makes it especially well suited to detailed observing of the Moon, planets and other Solar System objects. Bright deep-sky targets can also be observed.

As an achromat, the objective corrects colour better than a simple single-lens refractor, but it does not match the colour correction of an ED or apochromatic design. A slight colour fringe may be visible around very bright objects; this is normal for the design and should be considered when choosing the telescope. The long tube and 150 mm aperture also call for a sufficiently capable, stable mount.

The 2-inch focuser is supplied with adapters for 2-inch and 1.25-inch accessories. A 2-inch diagonal provides a comfortable viewing position. A 9×50 finder helps locate targets, while the 10 mm and 25 mm eyepieces provide two magnification choices. A DSLR camera connection is also included. This is an OTA package: the optical tube and accessories listed below are included, but a mount and tripod are not.

Who is it for? Observers looking for a large, long-focal-length refractor for lunar and planetary viewing who already own a suitable mount or plan to choose one separately. Given the tube length and weight, allow a healthy margin when checking mount capacity.
