The Sky-Watcher Nomad-5 is a compact telecentric Barlow lens with 5x amplification and four optical elements. Used with an eyepiece, it provides higher magnification for lunar and planetary observing. As with any high magnification, useful detail depends on aperture, collimation, thermal stability and atmospheric seeing.
The Nomad-5 is also designed for high-resolution lunar and planetary imaging. The manufacturer describes the four-element design as supporting colour-neutral, low-distortion images. A CCD adapter and DSLR T-mount adapter are included; DSLR users also need a T-ring matching their camera mount. The eyepiece adapter can be removed to access the T-ring connection directly.
A self-centring brass compression ring protects the eyepiece. The 1.25-inch barrel has a safety groove and a thread for 1.25-inch filters. The housing and adapters are metal.
