Sky-Watcher StarTravel 102 AZ-GO2 Wi-Fi GoTo Telescope

The Sky-Watcher StarTravel 102 AZ-GO2 is a compact wide-field refractor set controlled by smartphone or tablet. Its 102 mm aperture and 500 mm focal length give a fast f/4.9 focal ratio and a broad field of view, making it well suited to star fields, open clusters, comets, bright nebulae and galaxies. The Moon and planets can also be observed.

The fully multi-coated two-element achromat gathers plenty of light. A colour fringe may be visible around very bright objects, as is typical of a short-focus achromatic refractor; this is not a defect. The compact optical tube is easy to transport. Solar observing requires a suitable front-aperture solar filter, which is not included.

The AZ-Go2 mount creates its own Wi-Fi network, so it can operate without a home Wi-Fi or mobile network. After entering the observing location and completing a short alignment, the free SynScan app for iOS or Android controls the mount. According to the manufacturer, the GoTo database contains more than 10,000 celestial objects. No hand controller is listed in the package; the mount is operated wirelessly with a compatible smartphone or tablet.

Included: StarTravel 102 refractor, AZ-Go2 Wi-Fi GoTo mount, red-dot finder, 1.25-inch 90-degree diagonal, 10 mm and 20 mm eyepieces, and stainless-steel tripod with accessory tray. The eyepieces provide 50x and 25x magnification. Batteries and power supply are not included.
