Product overview
The Sky-Watcher Startravel 102 AZ5 is a short-tube refractor with a 102 mm objective on a manual alt-azimuth mount. It combines a wide-field view with straightforward handling, making it a versatile choice for the garden, balcony or travel.
Optics and observing
The two-element air-spaced achromat has a 500 mm focal length and an f/4.9 focal ratio. Its short focal length makes it well suited to sweeping broad areas of sky. Enjoy star fields, open clusters, comets and bright nebulae, as well as the Moon and bright planets. As with fast achromatic refractors, a colour fringe may be visible around very bright objects; the instrument is primarily designed for wide-field observing.
AZ5 mount and handling
The AZ5 Deluxe is an intuitive alt-azimuth mount. Two flexible slow-motion controls allow fine movements in altitude and azimuth, while the telescope can also be moved directly by hand for quick pointing. The aluminium tripod adjusts continuously to the preferred observing height. The mount is rated for a visual payload of up to 5 kg.
Included
The set includes the Startravel 102 optical tube, AZ5 mount head, short extension column, two flexible slow-motion controls, aluminium tripod, 6×30 finder, 1.25-inch diagonal and 10 mm and 25 mm eyepieces.
