70 mm achromat with AZ3 mount for sky and nature
The SkyWatcher Mercury 705 is a two-element, air-spaced achromatic refractor with a 70 mm aperture, 500 mm focal length and f/7.14 ratio. This compact telescope is suitable for daytime nature observation as well as the Moon, bright planets and wide star fields. The supplied 45° Amici prism produces an upright image, which is useful for terrestrial viewing.
The manual AZ3 mount moves in altitude and azimuth. Flexible slow-motion controls allow precise aiming and tracking on both axes. A red-dot finder helps with pointing, and the aluminium tripod includes an accessory tray. The 10 mm and 25 mm eyepieces provide different magnifications.
Important solar safety
A solar filter is not included. Never point the telescope at the Sun unless a suitable special-purpose filter for direct solar observation is securely fitted over the entire front aperture. Eclipse glasses or an eyepiece filter are not substitutes for a telescope front-aperture filter.
