SkyWatcher Startravel 102 EQ1 102/500 Achromatic Refractor Telescope

102 mm wide-field refractor with EQ1 mount

The SkyWatcher Startravel 102 EQ1 is a two-element, air-spaced achromat with a 102 mm aperture, 500 mm focal length and f/4.9 ratio. This light-gathering wide-field telescope suits star fields, clusters, comets, bright nebulae and galaxies, as well as the Moon and bright planets. During daytime use, the EQ1 mount can also be operated in alt-azimuth mode. An Amici prism is needed for an upright image in terrestrial observing; it is sold separately.

The manual equatorial EQ1 is operated with flexible slow-motion shafts and can track objects after polar alignment. An RA motor drive is available as an optional accessory but is not included. A 2-inch focuser with a 1.25-inch fitting offers compatibility with common accessories. The package includes a red-dot finder, a 1.25-inch diagonal, 12.5 mm and 26 mm Plössl eyepieces, a 2× Barlow lens, a direct DSLR connection and an aluminium tripod with accessory tray.

Important solar safety

A solar filter is not included. Never point the telescope at the Sun unless a suitable special-purpose filter for direct solar observation is securely fitted over the entire front aperture. Eclipse glasses or an eyepiece filter are not substitutes for a telescope front-aperture filter.
