SkyWatcher Startravel 80 EQ1 80/400 Achromatic Refractor Telescope

80 mm wide-field refractor with equatorial EQ1

The SkyWatcher Startravel 80 EQ1 is a two-element, air-spaced achromat with an 80 mm aperture, 400 mm focal length and f/5 ratio. Its short tube is designed for wide views and suits star fields, clusters, bright nebulae, brighter galaxies, comets, the Moon and bright planets. For daytime terrestrial use, the EQ1 mount can also be operated in alt-azimuth mode; an optional 1.25-inch Amici prism for an upright image is sold separately.

The manual EQ1 mount provides fine control through flexible slow-motion shafts and can track objects after polar alignment. An optional right-ascension motor is available for motorised tracking but is not included. A 6×30 finder helps locate objects. Also supplied are a 1.25-inch diagonal, 10 mm and 25 mm eyepieces, and a 2× Deluxe Barlow with camera adapter. The aluminium tripod has an accessory tray.

Important solar safety

A solar filter is not included. Never point the telescope at the Sun unless a suitable special-purpose filter for direct solar observation is securely fitted over the entire front aperture. Eclipse glasses or an eyepiece filter are not substitutes for a telescope front-aperture filter.
