The Sky-Watcher Explorer 150PL is a 150 mm Newtonian reflector with a long 1200 mm focal length (f/8) and parabolic primary mirror. At the same eyepiece focal length it offers more magnification than a short f/5 Newtonian, making it well suited to the Moon, planets, double stars and many nebulae, galaxies and clusters.
The 1.25-inch focuser and included 2× Barlow lens with camera adapter support several observing configurations. The manual EQ3-2 mount carries the telescope equatorially. Once its polar axis is roughly aligned with the celestial pole, the right-ascension fine control makes tracking convenient; declination controls and setting circles help point the telescope. The mount is rated for 5 kg visual payload while the tube weighs 6.4 kg, so the tube exceeds the stated capacity and stability at high magnification is limited. The manufacturer lists tracking motors and a SynScan GoTo system as optional upgrades.
Included equipment
150 mm Newtonian tube with parabolic primary and secondary mirrors and RAQ™ coatings, EQ3-2 mount with aluminium tripod and accessory tray, counterweights, 6×30 finder, 10 mm and 25 mm eyepieces, and 2× Barlow lens with camera adapter. Power supply and batteries for optional motorisation are not included.
