The Sky-Watcher Explorer 150PL with EQ3 Pro SynScan pairs a 150 mm Newtonian reflector, 1200 mm focal length (f/8), and a computerised equatorial mount. Its parabolic mirror and longer focal length support higher magnification for the Moon, planets and double stars, while also showing nebulae, galaxies and clusters.
The motorised EQ3 Pro SynScan slews to selected targets through its hand controller and can start a guided tour of its database of over 42,900 celestial objects. The package includes an aluminium tripod, counterweights, SynScan hand controller and motor control box with cables. A suitable 12 V power supply and batteries are not included. Note the load rating: the visual payload is specified as 5 kg while the tube weighs 6.4 kg. This exceeds the rated payload, so the setup is constrained for stable high-magnification observing and should be assembled with care.
Included equipment
150 mm Newtonian tube with parabolic primary and secondary mirrors and RAQ™ coatings, 6×30 finder, 10 mm and 25 mm eyepieces, 2× Barlow lens with camera adapter, EQ3 Pro SynScan GoTo mount, aluminium tripod with accessory tray, SynScan hand controller, motor control box with cables, and counterweights.
