The Sky-Watcher Explorer 150PL OTA is a 150 mm Newtonian reflector with a long 1200 mm focal length. Its f/8 focal ratio supports high magnification, making this optical tube especially suitable for the Moon, planets, double stars and smaller deep-sky objects. The parabolic primary mirror is coated with Radiant™ Aluminium Quartz (RAQ™); the manufacturer specifies reflectivity of up to 94%.
Compared with a 150/750 f/5 Newtonian, the longer focal length provides higher magnification with the same eyepiece. This is useful for viewing lunar and planetary detail, while the field of view is narrower for large star fields. Newtonian optics should be carefully collimated before observing, and the tube requires a suitably sturdy mount.
Equipment
The optical tube is supplied with a 6×30 finder, 10 mm and 25 mm eyepieces, and a 2× Barlow lens with camera adapter. The 1.25-inch focuser is designed for the supplied accessories. A camera is not included.
Please note: This is the OTA version. A mount and tripod are not included. A suitable equatorial mount must safely support the tube and accessories. Solar observing is safe only with an appropriate solar filter fitted over the front aperture.
