Sky-Watcher Explorer 300PDS Imaging Newtonian OTA 305/1500 mm

The Sky-Watcher Explorer 300PDS is a large-aperture 305 mm Newtonian designed for visual deep-sky observing and demanding astrophotography. Its 1,500 mm focal length and f/4.9 ratio combine strong light gathering with a focus position optimised for imaging. The 2-inch dual-speed Crayford focuser with 10:1 reduction supports precise focusing, including with heavier camera equipment.

The primary and secondary mirrors are made from low-expansion borosilicate glass. Their low thermal expansion helps maintain image stability as the telescope cools. The RAQ Radiant Aluminium Quartz coating provides 94% reflectivity according to the manufacturer. Four very thin 0.5 mm secondary-mirror vanes keep obstruction low and reduce diffraction spikes. The tube is internally blackened, with white details that help make it visible at night.

The optical tube comes with tube rings, a 75 mm Losmandy-style dovetail, a 9x50 finder, a 28 mm 2-inch LET eyepiece and a piggyback DSLR connection. Adapters for 1.25-inch and 2-inch eyepieces are included. The tube weighs approximately 23 kg and requires a suitably high-capacity mount. The manufacturer lists the CQ350i Pro and EQ8-R Pro as suitable platforms. This item is the optical tube only; no mount or tripod is included.
