130 mm Newtonian with EQ2 and motorised RA tracking
The SkyWatcher Explorer-130M combines a 130 mm Newtonian mirror with a 900 mm focal length and an f/6.92 focal ratio. It is a versatile telescope for lunar craters, bright planets and many brighter deep-sky objects such as star clusters, nebulae and galaxies. The set includes 10 mm and 25 mm eyepieces for different observing scales.
The equatorial EQ2 mount is aligned with the celestial pole and then tracks objects using its flexible slow-motion controls. An RA motor drive with hand controller also assists right-ascension tracking, helping keep an object in view for longer. The motor is not a GoTo system: targets are still located manually. A red-dot finder helps with aiming, and the aluminium tripod has an accessory tray.
The set provides the essential components for visual observing and simple motorised tracking. The motor drive requires a power supply and batteries; these are not included.
